Learn It on Real Machines
With Someone Sitting Beside You
A new printer can be exciting until the first layer will not stick, the supports ruin the part, the filament behaves differently than expected, or the slicer offers a hundred settings without explaining which five matter. Private lessons turn that frustration into a working process you understand.
Sessions are one-on-one in the KirkWorks3D studio in Helena and are built around your goals, your printer, or the project that has you stuck. Complete beginners are welcome.
What we can cover
- Printer setup and reliable first layers
- Bed preparation, leveling, temperatures, adhesion, calibration, loading filament, and what common first-layer problems actually mean.
- Bambu Studio and slicing
- Orientation, supports, walls, infill, layer height, seams, color assignment, plates, profiles, and how settings affect time, strength, surface quality, and waste.
- Materials in the real world
- When to use PLA, PETG, ASA, or TPU; how each behaves; drying and storage; temperature considerations; and how to stop choosing material by color alone.
- Multi-color printing
- Planning color changes, using multi-material systems, reducing unnecessary waste, and deciding when color adds enough value to justify the time.
- HueForge
- Choosing the photograph, reading tone and contrast, selecting filament, building a color stack, planning layer changes, and preparing the print in Bambu Studio.
- Troubleshooting
- Bring the failed print, photographs, project file, or machine when practical. We will diagnose the cause instead of changing random settings.
Who lessons are for
- Someone considering a first printer and wanting hands-on experience before buying.
- A new owner who wants to get reliable results faster.
- A hobbyist who can print basic models but wants better quality or stronger parts.
- A Bambu Studio user who wants to understand slicing rather than rely on defaults.
- A creator who wants to learn multi-color printing or HueForge.
- A parent, student, school, club, or small group exploring 3D printing.
What to bring
Bring the Problem, Not Just the Question
Bring the printer if the problem is machine-specific and transport is practical. Otherwise bring the failed print, filament, photographs, model file, slicer project, and a list of the results you want. If you do not own a printer, the session can use the KirkWorks3D equipment.
Stop Guessing at Settings
Tell me what printer you have, what you want to learn, and what has been going wrong. I will recommend the most useful session format.
